How Green Is
Our Time? The title of Rose's In Time I See CD is derived from a creative interpretation of the spelling of her song Intimacy. This image is a pictographic interpretation of the CD's title, functioning as its cover. In this piece Rose designed and painted the rose, echoing her own physique with its asymmetrical balance. Although not consciously created as such, some also associate the cloud on the left with the one-armed singer/songwriter. By substituting its title with How Green Is Our Time?, the image's symbolism acquires new meaning: the rose symbolizing Rose and perfection now represents prosperity; the sand symbolizing the passing of time now represents our limited natural resources; the eye within the triangle symbolizing the seeing I is now more characteristic of the almighty dollar (see Right on the Money!); the hourglass symbolizing time now represents the running out of time; the atmosphere symbolizing a realm of consciousness now appears as a noticeably baron environment; and the dark figure symbolizing one's reflective perspective now represents the inquisitive conscientious consumer. Certainly, re-titling this piece significantly emended its meaning. A meaningful title may contribute many dimensions to a piece, becoming its own work of art, poetry. Time to prepare and time to sow, Time to listen and time to learn, Time to receive and time to give, Time, take time, take time to live and know. Enjoy the lyrics of Calm Petition |
