While the inquisitive seek exposure,
there is more than meets the eye. Within the eye of the beholder
is reflected the way of the black sheep. For contact information
on a variety of organizations and related mission statements,
consult Gale’s Encyclopedia of Associations.
Often found online and in your library’s reference section,
this resource offers the possibility of many opportunities.
To target your desire, first survey its CONTENTS in search
of your personal interests represented by the following organization

Then, follow your bliss to a desirable topic
and consider the mission statements of related associations. You
need not relate to 100% of what is stated within these missions
in order to enjoy a beneficial relationship with their associations,
for how many of your friends do you agree with 100%? Seek the ones
that most appeal to your nature and contact them for more information.
By direct contact, you may connect with like-minded spirits who
are serving a common cause.
Many of these associations
welcome volunteers. As an active volunteer you have opportunities
to: choose your extent of involvement; assess the programs and 'politics'
of each association; accrue experience in your field of interest
while fortifying your resume; develop relationships with mentors
who may provide vital recommendations; be paid with "Please," "Thank
You," and sincere gratitude as well as certain perks; reserve the
right to say "No"; and depart at your convenience without jeopardizing
your career. You may also receive academic credit for your efforts,
for some associations offer internships and externships. Eventually,
those volunteers who possess passion in their eyes and in their
efforts are usually recognized as indispensable, resulting in efforts
then made by associations 'to keep them on' by offering part-time
or full-time paid positions.
By participating in the efforts
of existing associations, one may experience a sense of belonging
without having to reinvent the wheel. However, if your cause is
not satisfactorily represented by a dedicated association, then
it's time you took a stand for what you believe, create your cause,
and contribute to cultural renewal.
Your
Heart's Desire
Form a little hope
From feeling and thought, the sire
Burnish it with love,
And it becomes a little fire...
Burning in you heart,
Sending flames higher and higher.
Fan it with inspiration,
And it becomes a desire...
Burning in your soul,
An all-consuming fire,
Demanding your resources
To fuel its blazing spire.
Tend to this sacred service,
Sacrificing all to the holy fire,
As it melts all resistance,
And you'll have your heart's desire!
Your heart's desire
You'll have your heart's desire.
